Dear Co-Creators (Bret Easton Ellis and Ryan Murphy),
1. I have decided to uphold the season 1 series ‘Shards’ after it has been concluded.
2. Upholding a season means that it will remain indefinitely on our educational domain and may be monitored for future season(s) if any will be.
3. As for the review of the show: I actually searched for a few opinions on the internet like reddit, and found that the cast for Robert and others on the show could have been better. Specifically: “In the book Brett seemed to be the most self-conscious of his appearance. In the show, he is the best looking character and overshadows all the others in terms of confidence.” When I first saw this comment, I didn’t really think much of it. I tried holding off from reading any opinions until the show concluded but I admit I found this one after the episode where Brett and Robert have a fight in the school hallway. The reason why I searched for opinions was because I was getting worried about the character who played Brett. You could tell in this scene that Brett is gaining weight at a rapid rate, and not in a good way. The weight gain messes with his facial symmetry and waist and ass. These three attributes are key for any recessive partner like Brett wanting to attract a dominant partner like Robert. It impresses me how Brett was able to pull this off in the beginning of the show despite having a semi lean build and abs, and some muscle on the biceps. It astonishes me to this day, but after all… it was the 1980s. I really could care less about all the other characters or for what the book has to say for that matter, which deeply contrasts with the unknown opinion from someone on the internet. As the season progressed, Brett’s weight seemed to bulk and appear fat. When Brett and Robert kiss and have sex, regardless if it was a dream or not, it seemed out of place. The only thing reasonably sound about that scene is cutting to the part where Brett and Robert wake up the next morning. On the other hand, I start noticing Robert’s character getting increasingly more attractive as the episodes play on and the increased weight Robert receives amplifies facial symmetry but it’s a shame Robert doesn’t develop (or doesn’t visibly have) abs or other impressive muscle. Robert is a dominant character. Brett is a recessive character. Robert should be on top of Brett similarly to when Brett had sex with Debbie. I’m glad no sex was involved given the unusual weight gain that made the character who played Brett look fat and ugly. The following episode where Brett
and Robert fight in the party seemed well crafted. Albeit, I’d say everything about the writing and script of the film seemed to be well crafted. I’ll give it that. However, Brett’s weight gain still made the close encounter between Robert and Brett a bit nauseous. Quite fragile even. Still is way better than the book plays it out to be where Brett kills Robert by accident and dies of loneliness or some shit. As for who killed or attempted to kill Debbie’s father on episode 9 leaving a cliff hanger, is a bit obvious. It was that ugly white eyebrows character who looked 40 years old. The daughter, Debbie, is the closest to fight for the spot on this throne as he had sex with her boyfriend, Brett. However, the dude with the white eyebrows job was threatened so it's obviously him. I secretly want it to be Robert so the series could continue playing with Brett’s psychosis that invites the making of love with each other. Brett wants to psychologically protect all those around him, including Robert, which is a recessive trait. Robert wants to physically protect all those around him, including–especially, Brett, which is a dominant trait.
SO ORDERED.
